Free and Founding are self-serve, and Solo is self-serve with monthly or annual billing. Scale has a firm price and no button: we onboard and invoice those customers directly.

Live and pinned
Snapshots stay free to read.
Pinned snapshots never change and are free to read, anonymously and without a key, as often as you like. Scale is for sustained CI volume against them: an eval harness rerunning a sweep every night.
A pinned host returns byte-identical responses a year apart, and reading it stays free. How pinning works
How the limit spends
A burst, not a drip.
Limits run on a fixed hourly window: the whole allowance can be spent in one burst, and it resets at the top of the hour. GET /rate_limit is never charged. A 304 answered from our CDN's shared cache costs nothing; a conditional request that reaches us, which is every keyed one, costs a unit.
